Business Description

23 yrs old Accounting Firm for sale, Tangipahoa Parish

We have a Small accounting firm for sale in Louisiana. This is a 23years old Tax Preparation practice with a solid client base of 240 clients, 200 personal tax returns and 40 businesses. The seller is ready to retire, and needs to pass on the clients to another accountant. The clients provide an average annual income of $77,000 out of which the owner’s profit is an average of $56,000.
The company is selling for : $125,000.

The clients are loyal and have been with this company for generations (many of them) and will stay with the new owner in a wise transition where the person hired to meet with the clients when they drop off and pick up their tax documents is pleasant and helpful. This person can work part time, and have basic knowledge of accounting terms.

The firm offers a variety of services, which means a busy tax season and off-season revenues to balance the revenue year.

Services Offered:
– Tax returns
– Bookkeeping. Bank reconciliation, Financial statements, sales taxes, quarterly payroll reports, W2s, 940
– Payroll for two clients
– Insurance audit help

The clients are the type every firm wants and who return year after year. The seller said that there has never once been a payment she had troubles with (One NSF check only in 22 years –  and that one only because the check was issued by mistake out of a closed account.)

The clients  happily refer the business to anyone who asks. The current owner is not accepting new clients because she preferred the business at the current size. The business can be easily grown simply by letting the current clients know what you are accepting new clients and referrals are welcome. The business does no advertising, as the owner is very hands-on and is restricted by the hours of the day. The business’s prices are lower than franchise tax businesses and CPAs. They do not offer advance refunds and the owner does not deal much in earned income credit returns.

Current owner is willing to offer transitional training to the new owner and introduce him/her to current clients.
